Amsterdam and Kuala-Lumpur, 9th September, 2025 – Open Broadcast Systems has announced that Asia’s leading linear and digital sports service, SPOTV has selected its decoders for its international transition from satellite to IP workflow.
Open Broadcast Systems decoders support high-quality, low-latency video contribution for sports, linear-channels and news. It allows flexible deployment of contribution services in pure software or on a wide variety of high-density chassis.
The decoders were shipped directly to affiliates across Asia as part of a turnkey solution for the delivery of high quality, low latency broadcast services. The project was executed in partnership with Zixi, a leader in live broadcast quality over IP. Open Broadcast Systems’ decoders are certified on ZEN Master, which SPOTV leverages for its virtually managed MCR, allowing SPOTV to distribute live video over IP with ultra-low latency, overcoming issues such as packet loss and signal drops. The initiative will also allow SPOTV to deliver different versions of content to different regions using edge distribution, ensuring that content is closer to the viewers. It will also allow SPOTV to centrally monitor affiliates.
Prakash Maniam, Head of Broadcast Operations and Engineering at SPOTV, commented: “Our move to IP has allowed us to future proof our business and deliver a reliable, high quality, low latency service that will enable us to respond with agility to customer requirements and more effectively meet increasing demand for our sports programming. Leveraging Open Broadcast Systems’ decoders, we are able to have precise control and monitoring of IP feeds while eliminating costly satellite infrastructure.”
Kieran Kunhya, CEO, Open Broadcast Systems, added: “As broadcasters work to ensure that their operations are more agile and cost-effective, many are moving from satellite to IP infrastructure, taking advantage of cloud-based services. Our C-100 decoders offer SPOTV a highly flexible solution that is available in both software and hardware options that delivers quality, low latency and cost-efficiency with no compromises. In combination with Zixi’s platform, this ensures the ability to allow more regionalization, alternate feeds and rapid channel expansion.”
Open Broadcast Systems will be exhibiting at IBC from 12th to 15th September at booth 1.C37a. Get in touch to book a meeting.
